Workshop: Agile Maturity

Capability and maturity models and assessments are widely spread. Some companies apply them to improve their process quality and transparence; some just have to comply with their customer’s demands. It is commonly accepted that agile methods improve results and efficiency of development processes. How do those two mental models fit together? We will prove that agile process implementations fulfill assessment goals for CMMI. We will show you ways to realize agile supplier management and other practices not covered by Scrum or XP. We start with a set of CMMI-SW goals and practices and try to define agile solutions.

Workshop Process

Depending on the amount of participants we will decide about the process to archive the topics below. This could be group work, brainstorming, or other moderation methods.

• What We Want: Agile solutions to cover CMMI-SW goals and practices
• What We Need: Goals and practices from CMMI covered by Scrum and XP
• What We Know: CMMI goals and practices already covered by Scrum and XP
• What Is Missing: CMMI practices not yet covered

Agenda

The following agenda intend to be a proposal and should give all interested individuals a first overview. In any case we will discuss and fix the agenda of the workshop with all participants at the beginning.

Who should Attend

Anyone who is interested in the application of CMMI or SPICE in combination with agile processes is invited to attend. Experts in both areas are also welcome as individuals new to CMMI, SPICE or Agile.

Bios

Boris Gloger

Since 2004, Boris Gloger is a Certified Scrum Trainer. Boris was one of the first project managers who did run a pilot to implement CMM Level 2 at EDS, Germany in 1999. Later he trained other project managers in the concepts of CMM Level 3 at EDS. Boris was one of the first people in Europe who used Scrum to make projects successful. He organised the very first Scrum Gathering in Vienna in 2004 and the Retrospective Facilitator Gathering 2006, in Baden-Baden. Boris Gloger leads our Scrum implementations and is founder of SPRiNT-iT in Germany.

Peter Beck

Peter Beck is a Certified Scrum Practitioner and Scrum Coach with a sound background in software engineering. He has taken part in research and development projects in the field of online telecommunications, video conferencing, shops and embedded devices.
